Top 10 Camera & Photo Bestsellers: November 2010

It’s December 1st, prime holiday shopping season, and time for my monthly look at the top-selling camera and photography items as calculated by Amazon.com.

This month’s list includes a LOT of previously non-bestseller items and lot of items that based on the price fall squarely into the “Holiday Gift Item” category.

1. Panasonic Lumix DMC-FP1 – a decent, small-sized camera for under $80 that offers 12 megapixel still photos as well as HD video.
2. Fujifilm FinePix J40 12.2 MP Digital Camera – the J40 is a model that honestly I’d never heard of until seeing it on the list. It has a bargain price, a 3″ LCD, and a small size that makes it highly portable.
3. Canon EOS Rebel T2i and EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens – Canon’s current-model Digital Rebel kit is priced around $750 and offers great quality for both still photos and HD DSLR video. When folks are looking to get into DSLR photography for this price range, this is my recommended kit right now.
4. Kodak PlaySport (Zx3) HD Waterproof Pocket Video Camera Bundle – Kodak’s waterproof video cameras were popular during the summer months around swimming pools and it makes sense they’d be a popular gift item this holiday season. I suspect they also work well for wet outdoor winter sports.
5. Flip UltraHD Video Camera – Black, 8 GB – The Flip UltraHD offers high-def video recording (up to two hours) in a pocket-sized, simple to use package. Although it has dropped a few spots on the list, this camera has been on every bestseller list since I started tracking things several months ago.
6. Nikon Coolpix L22 12.0MP Digital Camera (Black) – on the bestseller list for a second month, this looks like a decent point-and-shoot camera that includes an image stabilization system and the ability to record standard-def video.
7. Kodak C180 10 MP HD Digital Camera – continuing this month’s trend of low-cost compact cameras on the bestseller list is this modest Kodak model.
8. Flip MinoHD Video Camera – Brushed Metal – unlike the Flip UltraHD above, the Flip MinoHD favors a small size and offers it in this unit with a nice brushed metal case. Great HD video, smaller device to carry.
9. Nikon Coolpix L22 12.0 MP Digital Camera (Red) – the red-colored version of the L22 (black version is higher on the list).
10. Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera – wrapping up this month’s list is another affordable compact camera, this one a Canon PowerShot.
