I received an email a couple days ago from someone in an interesting scenario… he’s with the Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission and is seeking an electronic shopping cart or photo delivery system that allows the purchaser to name their own donation price. I suggested that perhaps one you might have a solution and he allowed me to post his query:
My organization has a pretty good catalog of photography dealing with environmental and tribal subjects. We often get requests to reuse photos for use in newspapers and magazines. We are usually ok with this and only ask that a donation be made to our non-profit partner organization.
Are you familiar with any solution for automating this process? Setting up some sort of e-commerce site that allows user to place images in a shopping cart, then takes them to a donation site like justgive.org. Somehow allowing them to download a hi-res version of the photo using a confirmation number.
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated and a solution using WordPress would, of course, be wonderful.
I know of lots of photo commerce solutions either self-hosted or through a hosted service such as SmugMug or Photoshelter, but I’m not aware of anything that allows the “buyer” to name their own donation price.
Can anyone help us out?
