This October is BlogWorld and New Media Expo, a big conference for bloggers, social media pros, podcasters, and anyone involved with online publication. I attended last year and learned quite a bit. Here’s one thing I learned:
There aren’t many pro photographers in attendance. This is precisely why you gain an advantage by attending.
When I talk to photographers about blogging and online marketing, two of the most common reasons I hear for blogging failure is that either the photographer runs out of ideas for fresh content or ways to market their work online, or that the photographer really wants to focus on online activities designed to drive revenue.
BlogWorld offers sessions specifically aimed to solve those two situations. There are panels that talk about online marketing opportunities and content creation as well as an entire track devoted to monetization: how to make your online efforts pay. Heck, there’s even one session devoted to photography (being led by Kris Krüg and yours truly).
If you register by September 16th, you can take advantage of discount pricing which makes the Weekend Pass only $395 (a heck of a deal and money that you can likely recover with one good photography sale using some of that online marketing skill you’ll learn at the conference). The conference organizers even setup a sweet room deal at the Mandalay Bay (where the conference is held) so we won’t have to spend time in transit and can make the most of networking opportunities.
Hit this banner to register, and be sure to read below for a special BlogWorld event only for Picture Pundit readers.
Picture Pundit meetup plans: If you’re a photographer (either pro or hobbyist… so I guess that covers pretty much everyone) going to BlogWorld, leave a comment on this post. I’ll invite up to the first 20 commenters to a Picture Pundit happy hour – have a beverage on me while we chat photography, blogging, and whatever else is on our minds.
I hope to see you at BlogWorld 2010!
