I’m going to throw this out here, pre-emptively answering a question on this site that I’ve been asked numerous times offline already. How does the Picture Pundit site differ from the articles I published for over a year at Social Photo Talk?
Social media marketing for photographers is important, but I think the environment has changed in the last couple of years. If a photographer isn’t participating in social media by now, I honestly don’t see any conclusion to draw other than the conclusion that the photographer isn’t very smart. Continuing to write articles evangelizing Facebook, Twitter, blogging, and the like probably isn’t going to change that person’s mind.
And that’s okay. They don’t need to change their mind. They can continue their old ways while I use social media to make money.
I’ll still talk about social media. But I’m going to talk about other topics as well. I’m going to mention great software and hardware that help photographers work better. I will occasionally talk about technique.
You’ll see a regular feature of people who I think are “doing it right.” What does that mean? Stay tuned and you’ll find out.
I plan to inform, share, educate, and entertain. Photography is awesome. Most photographers are awesome. Picture Pundit is my take on photography as I see it. I look forward to sharing it with you in what hopefully becomes a dialog. Give me feedback. Tell me when I’m right on and tell me when I’m full of crap.
Let’s do it.
